Description and introduction to MOFGA's programs

MOFGA’s Agricultural Services program offers the expertise of many full-time specialists, providing a wide range of assistance to farmers, gardeners, orchardists and livestock producers.

MOFGA Certification Services LLC was formed by the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association in 2002 to provide USDA-accredited organic certification services to Maine farmers and food processors. MOFGA began offering a certification program for organic farmers in 1972.

Our Education programs serve the interests of our widely diverse membership, offering apprenticeships, a Journeyperson program, dozens of events throughout the year, and ... more!

MOFGA’s Low Impact Forestry program offers staff expertise and events to woodlot owners, wood harvesters and homeowners, and manages MOFGA's extensive woodlands at our Common Ground Education Center in Unity.

The Maine Heritage Orchard is a ten-acre preservation orchard located on a former gravel pit on the MOFGA grounds in Unity.

MOFGA’s Public Policy program informs members and the general public about important policy issues of the day concerning organic agriculture, GMO food labeling, climate change and much more, and advocates on these issues at the state and federal level.
